Big Update: A Time of Transition

Some changes I'm making & why

Hello to my lovely readers,

I’m writing to let you know about a new chapter I’m embarking on in my journey of creating videos and writing online. I made a video summarising it if you prefer to listen:

I’ve been thinking about this a lot over the last few year, and after much deliberation, feedback, and planning, I’ve figured out what I’m doing.

There are two main changes - what my content is, and where you can find it.

The TLDR is: I’ve decided to transition my content from only being on Substack to a dedicated blog and Patreon. Read on to learn what this means for you.

What Will I Be Sharing?

I approach everything with quite an analytical view as well as creative - I spend so much of my time creating videos and writing for social media, so to me, it needs to have a deeper purpose.

The core of what I do can be summarised like this: I want to inspire and encourage you to find enchantment in life and experience the magic of the everyday.

I do this through sharing folklore and old traditions, paganism, lifestyle, and more. I want to keep following this vision and incorporate more ‘alternative travel’, which is essentially exploring fascinating places and sharing them with you. Whether it’s ancient ruins, folkloric forests, mystical museums or hidden tales within city streets, I want to take you there.

Where Can You Find Me Online?

I’ve decided to transition my content from only being on Substack to a dedicated blog and Patreon.

This shift is all about creating a space that better serves you and allows me to share my work in the most enchanting and accessible way possible.

Here’s Why I’m Making this Move:

More Control and Visibility:

I’m going to get ‘businessy’ here - I’ve worked in marketing my whole career, and I am currently an email marketing manager in my 9-5, which means I know a lot about emails and how to get the best out of them. I find Substack very limiting as I can only send the entire post as an email, I don’t have control over the subject lines properly, and I can’t set up automated journeys to give you things like free stories after signing up.

With how Substack works currently, my pages also can’t be indexed on Google. This essentially means that I can put so much effort and time into writing a post, and it can’t be found on Google searches, whereas creating my own blog means I would have that possibility.

With Substack, I can only share entire blog posts as exclusive content. Sometimes I just want to give you a downloadable resource, a photo + text post, or something else, and Substack is quite limited in that regard.

Patreon is More Accessible

I have received quite a lot of feedback from my lovely YouTube community that they aren’t vibing with Substack and don’t really ‘get’ it or want to make an account on here just to see stuff from one account. If it was just the odd comment, I wouldn’t be concerned, but I was getting a lot of feedback on this.

I get that - Substack is a wonderful place and I really love the community and social element on here, but if you’re not into blogging and don’t want to add a whole other social media platform to your list of things to think about, you probably don’t want to make a Substack account.

So I’ve decided to pause billing on here and focus on Patreon instead. Already without any content being on there yet, people have started subscribing, so thank you so much! This confirms that it was the right move.

What This Means for You

1. Billing Is Paused on Substack
   If you're currently a paid subscriber, I’ve paused billing to ensure you're not charged for the future.

2. Yearly Subscribers: Don’t Worry!
   If you’ve signed up for a full year, you won’t miss out. I’ll still post all the exclusive content on Substack until everyone has run out, so you get what you’ve paid for. (If you’re not happy with this - please drop me an email and I will refund you instead)

3. I will be sending ‘regular’ emails to you rather than via Substack.

4. Join Me on Patreon
   Patreon will be my new home for exclusive content. It’s where I’ll be sharing bonus blog posts, behind-the-scenes musings, and special perks just for supporters. I’ll be launching it soon, and I can’t wait to welcome you there!

What’s Next?

My Patreon is live now, but I will be posting properly on there from February 1st.

One of the things you can get on there alongside extra videos, blog posts, writing, and personal insights, is a monthly almanac. This is essentially your guide to seasonal living and making the most of the month. E.g.
